Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of this website and, together with Apple's standard license agreement, your use of the Heartwood app.

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Who we are

Heartwood is developed and published by Aktica(referred to as “we” or “us”). By using this website or the app, you agree to these terms.

The app license

Heartwood is distributed through the Mac App Store and licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That agreement governs installation and use of the app; these terms add the points below and govern this website.

Not medical advice

Heartwood is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, it does not measure blood pressure or any other vital sign, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Reference ranges and flags are informational, reflect settings you control, and are not a health assessment. Reminders are a convenience and must not be relied on as the sole prompt for taking medication. See the full Medical Disclaimer.

Your data, your responsibility

Because Heartwood stores records only on your Mac, you are responsible for your own backups (for example via Time Machine) and for protecting exported files once you share them. We cannot recover data we never hold.

Acceptable use of this website

  • Do not attempt to disrupt, probe, or overload the site or the contact service.
  • Do not submit unlawful, abusive, or deliberately misleading content through the contact form.
  • Content on this site is ours or used with permission; do not reproduce it commercially without consent. Screenshots may be used in reviews and articles about Heartwood.

Third-party services and devices

Bluetooth device compatibility is described on the support page and varies by model, region, and firmware. Device manufacturers are not affiliated with us and do not endorse Heartwood. The medication-name lookup relies on a public service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine whose availability we do not control.

Disclaimer of warranties

This website and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. Warranties for the app itself are addressed in Apple's standard license agreement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of this website. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under consumer protection rules that apply where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Changes apply from the date shown at the top of this page; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
